Here is the central difference between the traditional model of charity and what we have developed as our central campaign for ICAN’s funding. We rely on small sharing gifts from everyday people like you, instead of depending on large contributors such as governments or corporate funding. We ask ICAN members, if they are able, to contribute 3 cents a day, 90 cents a month, 11 dollars a year towards ICAN created campaigns and programs. And you can rest assured every penny is going to building global sustainability and international cooperative education for children and their communities around the world.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed if you consider the problems of poverty, hunger, war and a degraded environment. Frankly, it can all feel like way too much. What can one person do? We at ICAN believe that individuals, when working together, can do great things.
But many of us working together in a common purpose can literally perform miracles! Through ICAN we hope to perform great deeds collectively by focusing the many small efforts of a great number of people on organizations that create positive change worldwide in the areas of education and sustainability.
By many people giving small amounts of money – as little as 3 cents per day – great steps forward can be made. One should never fail to act for fear that you cannot do enough. Big changes can come about from small actions. Large trees can grow from small seeds. Your spare change can bring about some big changes.
ICAN is a grassroots movement. We seek a diversified funding base. We choose not to be dependant on a handful of wealthy donors. When organizations rely too heavily on their funding coming from a small number of people, the viability of the organization then hinges on the whims of their wealthy patrons. We feel that it is better to have a broad base of support.
We believe that building an organization that supports itself with many small donations rather then depend on a few large contributors just makes a lot of sense. We count on the support of people like you.
